Is Early Thermalization Achieved Only near Midrapidity at Rhic ?

چکیده
The pseudorapidity dependence of elliptic flow in Au+Au collisions at 130 A GeV is studied within a full three-dimensional hydrodynamic model in the light-cone coordinate. First, we prepare two initial conditions in the hydrodynamic model for analyzing elliptic flow. Both initial conditions lead to reasonable agreement with single particle spectra in central and semi-central collisions. Next, by using these hydrodynamic simulations, we compare elliptic flow as a function of pseudorapidity with experimental data recently measured by the PHOBOS Collaboration. Our results are in agreement with experimental data only near midrapidity. This suggests that thermalization in the early stage of collisions is not achieved in forward and backward rapidity regions.

Early Thermalization at Rhic *
It is shown that recent RHIC data on hadron spectra and elliptic flow can be excellently reproduced within a hydrodynamic description of the collision dynamics, and that this provides strong evidence for rapid thermalization while the system is still in the quark-gluon plasma phase. But even though the hydrodynamic approach provides an impressive description of the single-particle momentum dist...
متن کاملRapidity dependent momentum anisotropy at RHIC
In Au+Au collisions at RHIC, elliptic flow was found to rapidly decrease as a function of rapidity. We argue that the origin of this phenomenon is incomplete thermalization of the initial fireball outside the midrapidity region and show that it can be quantitatively related to the analogous effect at midrapidity in peripheral collisions and in collisions at lower beam energies.
متن کاملTwo RHIC puzzles: Early thermalization and the HBT problem
Hadron spectra from the first year RHIC run are shown to be excellently reproduced by hydrodynamic calculations. We argue that in particular the elliptic flow data provide strong evidence for early thermalization at RHIC, at energy densities well above deconfinement, but that the phenomenologically extracted short thermalization time scale of less than 1 fm/c provides a serious challenge for th...
متن کاملModified Kolmogorov Wave Turbulence in QCD matched onto “Bottom-up” Thermalization
We investigate modification of Kolmogorov wave turbulence in QCD calculating gluon spectra as functions of time in the presence of a low energy source which feeds in energy density in the infrared region at a time-dependent rate. Considering the picture of saturation constraints as has been constructed in the “bottom-up” thermalization approach we revisit that picture for RHIC center-mass energ...
